Full-Time Public Works Opening
The Village of Dousman is seeking applications for a full-time public works/utility operator. This position includes maintenance and repairs to public properties and projects. Must be able to deal courteously with the public, work outdoors in varying weather conditions and available to work overtime as required. These tasks will include assisting with operation of the municipal wastewater and water systems, maintenance and repairs of the parks, streets, and public properties of the village. This includes but is not limited to snowplowing, salting streets, installing, and maintaining water meters, flushing hydrants as well as other needed tasks under supervision and direction of the Superintendent. The successful candidate is on the on-call rotation which includes scheduled weekends and holidays.
Residency required within 30-minute travel time.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED required.
Basic computer and mechanical experience desired.
Current driver’s license with a good driving record; Must have CDL class B/C with air brake endorsement or be able to obtain a Class “B” CDL within six months of employment, snowplowing experience; ability to operate front-end loader and other equipment as well as multiple hand tools and experience in public works/park maintenance preferred.
Experience in Water and Wastewater, Wisconsin DNR Water & Wastewater Certifications, along with knowledge of pumps, hydrants, pumping stations is preferred.
Candidates are subject to a background investigation, physical exam, and drug screening including preemployment screening.
Salary Range: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour (DOQ) with an attractive benefit package. The Village also offers a flexible and casual work environment.
