2024 VILLAGE Loose-Leaf Pick-Up: DOUSMAN LEAF PICK UP STARTING October 1st 2024 Loose-Leaf Pick-Up Program To take advantage of this convenient service, leaves (no grass or landscaping debris) need to be raked to the edge of the road as close as possible, IT MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO COLLECT THE LEAVES WHEN MORE THAN 8 TO 10 FEET FROM EDGE OF THE STREET OR IN DEEP DITCHES! Leaves need to be out by 7:00 a.m. each Tuesday morning during the weeks of the program weather permitting to ensure that crews can collect the leaves. Public Works crew will collect the leaves once a week weather permitting. If leaves have not been raked as close to the road as possible when the crew passes through, the pickup will not take place until the following week. Once the crew has completed a street, they will not return to that street until the following week.  Inclement weather conditions may result in the program being delayed a day or two during any week of pickup. We have only one crew and it takes multiple days to collect the entire Village during the busy weeks. Please be patient, they will get to every street every week!   Leaf Preparation Guidelines Please adhere to the following guidelines when preparing leaves for pickup: All leaves must be placed as close to road as possible by 7 a.m. on Tuesday morning Leaves should be loose, not bagged, and placed as close to the edge of the street as possible Leaves should not be placed on sidewalks, in ditches, or over top of storm water inlets. No other materials shall be placed in the leaf pile, including grass, branches, landscape waste, etc. Please do not park vehicles, trailers etc., in front of or on top of leaf piles. If there is an obstacle in front of a pile, crews will not circle back to collect them.  The pile will be collected on the next pass through the area if the pile is accessible. That last leaf pickup will be December 3rd weather permitting If you have any additional questions regarding the Leaf Collection Program, call Public Works at (262-965-3302).
